Transcriber's note: This is a recording made in the open air of an unidentified male singer singing an unidentified song: "On the 29th August last in Plymouth Sound we lay". There is an explanatory postcript to the recording to the effect that the singer was Fred Crossman, recorded at Hambridge in Somerset on 10th June 1961, following the unveiling of a memorial to Cecil Sharp. Fred Crossman had sung for Cecil Sharp during one of his visits.
