505 0# - FORMATTED CONTENTS NOTE
Formatted contents note Mummers' Play: The Battle of Waterloo. Side 1 (of 6) -- Side 4 (of 6). Recorded Town Hall, Dorchester, Dorset, 14/12/1936.
Formatted contents note Produced by Patrick M. Beach CCE who worked at the BBC. He got it from RQMS Williams, The Barracks, 1st battalion Dorchester Regiment, Dorchester, who noted it down as a boy. The play was a special revival for the BBC, organised by F.c. James, 25 Bridport Roiad, Dorchester, and made up of the villagers. The play does not appear to have a firm tradition, but was performed by various groups of villagers at spasmodic intervals. The records in the BBC Archives are no more - they are now on tape MT 14288. Other person to contact is Miss Marie Slocombe, The BBC Librarian. The play was used on the programme 'West Country Calendar' on 4/1/1937. [This information was collected from Miss Margaret Cox, in the BBC Archives, 23/2/1972].
