Mummers' Play: The Battle of Waterloo. Side 3 (of 6) -- Side 6 (of 6). Recorded Town Hall, Dorchester, Dorset, 14/12/1936.
Produced by Patrick M. Beach Cce who worked at the BBC. He got it from Rqms Williams, The Barracks, 1st battalion Dorchester Regiment, Dorchester, who noted it down as a boy. The play was a special revival for the BBC, organised by F.c. James, 25 Bridport Roiad, Dorchester, and made up of the villagers. The play does not appear to have a firm tradition, but was performed by various groups of villagers at spasmodic intervals. The records in the BBC Archives are no more - they are now on tape Mt 14288. Other person to contact is Miss Marie Slocombe, The BBC Librarian. The play was used on the programme 'West Country Calendar' on 4/1/1937. [This information was collected from Miss Margaret Cox, in the BBC Archives, 23/2/1972].
Dubbed to BBC Tape 27 & 28 (see also records 221 & 222) & CDA BBC 17.
